The Sun newspaper is one of the biggest and most polarising in the United Kingdom. It has been involved in numerous controversies over the years. In fact, it’s actually involved in a minor controversy right now. Still, it’s popular, and while I can’t profess to be a fan, I have actually used its betting sites in the past and I have had decent experiences there.

I was actually a member of the now-defunct Sun Bets, a site with a layout that I remember being similar to Unibet and 32Red, and one I used a lot.

So, let’s just say that my bias against the newspaper is negated somewhat by my bias for the betting brand. We’ll call it even and see how this The Sun Vegas review pans out.

Welcome Bonuses

If you’re new to Sun Vegas, you could qualify for a 100% bonus boost. Simply deposit £10 or more using a debit card and the site will boost your deposit 100% up to a maximum of £300.

You have 72 hours to accept the bonus and it is valid for 30 days thereafter. The wagering requirements are fixed at 50x, which isn’t too bad, but it applies to the deposit and bonus amount, which is pretty poor. It effectively turns it into a 100x wagering requirement and means you must wager a massive £1,000 to clear a deposit of £10 that results in a bonus of the same amount.

One of the most frustrating terms here is the fact that you can’t use PayPal, Neteller, Skrill, or Envoy to qualify. Effectively, you are limited to using debit cards only if you want a piece of the offer.

I don’t mind Neteller and Skrill being on this list as it’s not uncommon to see these methods excluded. But PayPal is massively popular on UK casinos and I use it myself.

Loyalty Offers

Sun Vegas doesn’t have the biggest selection of loyalty promotions, but there are a few offers to keep you interested.

For instance, the Sun Vegas loyalty program is open to all players, regardless of their stake level. It turns wagers into points (1 comp point per £10 wagered), and when you have enough of them, you can convert these points into cash.

It’s a simple no-nonsense process. Just collect, visit your account, and then click “Convert to Money”. As with all loyalty schemes, you’ll earn more points and a greater rate of return as your wagers increase.

Check the loyalty program section for more information, including a table that highlights how many points you can earn. For instance, progressive jackpot slots earn you points faster than other slots, but all slot machines earn a higher rate than virtual table games and live casino games.

Casino Games

Sun Vegas works with a handful of my favourite developers, including Playtech, a massive brand that don’t appear as often as they should on top UK casinos. This developer is responsible for the excellent Age of the Gods slot machines, as well as other classics.

It’s also home to Blueprint Gaming, another developer I can’t get enough of, and one that has an equally excellent progressive jackpot system in the form of Jackpot King.

It takes things to another level by offering a handful of original games, ones branded with the Sun logo that can’t be found anywhere else. This is usually something reserved for only the biggest and best online casinos and bingo sites, including Ladbrokes and Paddy Power, so it was a pleasant surprise to see some listed here.

The live casino on Sun Vegas is excellent and includes live game shows, wheel-based games, and live table games, with titles like Adventures Beyond Wonderland and Football Card Showdown being two of our favourite picks.

If you prefer your table games to be virtual, there are also a handful of Playtech RNG games, but these are relatively sparse.

Deposits and Withdrawals

Sun Vegas has a minimum deposit of £10 and a maximum deposit of £1,000. Where withdrawals are concerned, you can take as little as £5 out of your account, and the maximum is £50,000 (£5,500 for PayPal users).

It’s good to see such a low minimum withdrawal amount, but I’m also surprised to see the maximum deposits/withdrawals.

Personally, I am not getting anywhere near those amounts, so it doesn’t affect me, but UK casinos are usually more relaxed with their upper limits. If you’re a higher spender, this might be cause for concern.

Verdict: The Sun Vegas Review

I was expecting Sun Vegas to be more of a cookie-cutter site like Mirror Bingo. I didn’t expect to like it. But I did. And while it’s not the most original site I have seen, it does have some excellent features and offers, including a great loyalty program that all players can benefit from and a variety of exclusive slot machines.

Regardless of your thoughts on the newspaper that lends its name to this site, it’s well worth making a deposit here, collecting your bonus, and then checking out the site’s many great games. Just don’t forget to check out the loyalty program and start collecting those points.
