In this 888sport review, I’ll focus on the UK sportsbook, highlighting its many pros and a few frustrating cons.

Welcome Bonuses

888sport invites all new players to collect £30 in free bets when they deposit and wager at least £10. The qualifying bet must be placed on a single wager with odds of at least 1.50 (1/2).

Free bets must be used within 7 days and the stake will not be included in the return.

You will also be given £10 to use in the casino. These credits must be claimed within 7 days and will expire after 2 weeks. They have a win cap of £500 and a wagering requirement of 40x.

Software and Betting Options

Sportsbook software can look very samey. It’s often created by third-party developers and then licensed to betting sites. The colours and options change, but the overall structure is very similar. That’s not true for the biggest and best sites though, and 888sport is in that category.

The black and orange layout is not as easy on the eye as sites like bet365, but it’s still a well-designed platform. 

It has a great selection of betting markets, with hundreds of options on the biggest football and rugby matches and some great coverage of snooker, tennis, and racing. There is a “Novelty Bets” section that covers TV shows and award ceremonies, politics betting, and some underrepresented sports like surfing, hurling, and Aussie rules.

There are virtual sports if you’re looking for something a little different, and 888sport also has live betting options, accumulators, and bet boosts via the “888 Specials” link.

The odds default to fractional but can be changed in the settings, and if you don’t like the layout, there’s also an option to switch between light and dark modes.

One of the issues I have with this site concerns the cashout. 888sport offers this feature, but it’s not available for all sports and events. Even when it is there, it rarely seems to make an appearance and that can be very frustrating. The same is true for many other top sites, including BetVictor, but it’s not true for bet365, so there are sites that get this right.

Customer Support

If you click on “Help”, 888Sport will direct you to email or FAQ options, the former of which is actually a contact form. Once you’re signed in, you can also access live chat, which is available 24/7.

There is even a telephone number.

It’s always good to see a complete selection of support options, but it can cause problems. Oftentimes, big companies with setups like this work with different logistics firms and it means you don’t always get the same support through all methods.

A few years ago, for instance, I made a withdrawal on 888sport and then saw that the money still hadn’t appeared after a week. I emailed them to ask what was wrong, and they didn’t provide any answers or helpful solutions.

As the money was still pending, I called them. Immediately, they told me that I couldn’t withdraw to the chosen payment method and so the withdrawal had to be cancelled and then processed through a different method.

That’s fine, but they had been waiting for me to contact them before telling me about the issue. Emailing them wasn’t sufficient. It was a very strange situation, and as a result, I would recommend phoning if you have a serious account/banking issue and using live chat if your problem relates to usability or bonuses.

Deposits and Withdrawals

Verdict: 888sport Review

888sport is one of the oldest, biggest, and best-known sportsbooks in the United Kingdom. That doesn’t automatically make it one of the best, but it certainly has the resources to compete with the likes of Betfair and bet365.

Ultimately, I think it falls a little short of these sites. It has some great features, banking options, and betting markets, as well as fantastic loyalty promotions, but its withdrawals aren’t instant, its customer support could use some work, and the cash out is frustrating.
